1. What part of the body is known as the “ detoxification center” for the breakdown of alcohol? The liver chemically breaks down most of the alcohol into acetic acid. Also the kidney eliminates 5 percent of alcohol in the urine and the lung exhale 5 percent of alcohol.
2. What is the rate of detoxification in the body - how many ounces per hour ?
A average person can eliminate 0.5 oz (15ml) of alcohol per hour.
3. At what volumes are wine, beer, and hard liquor considered to be equal?
The volume 12-ounce, 10 proof beer is equal to a five-ounce glass of 24 proof wine, which is equal to a 1 1/2 ounce shot (jigger) of 80 proof hard liquor

A craving a powerful desire for a substance that cannot be ignored. Cravings are a symptom of the abnormal brain adaptations of addiction.

Tolerance is a state of adaptation in which exposure to a drug induces changes that result in a diminution of one or more of the drug’s effects over time.

Physical dependence is a state of adaptation that is manifested by a drug class specific withdrawal syndrome that can be produced by abrupt cessation, rapid dose reduction, decreasing blood level of the drug, and/or administration of an antagonist.

Loss of control is when someone has a lack of understanding; unconscious
13. What are the signs that someone is “drunk”?
First of all, movements are unsteady, smell of breathe, and can not talk or think correctly.
14. What is the difference between someone who has “passed out” and someone who has “blacked out”?
Passing out is a chemically - induced coma. The person becomes unconscious for a period of time and eventually wakes up. While blacking out is alcohol - induced amnesia and the person is unable to remember what happened when he/she was awake and functioning.
15. In terms of alcohol, what does FAS stand for? What is FAS?
FAS is Fetal alcohol syndrome: a congenital medical condition in which body deformation occurs or facial development or mental ability is impaired because the mother drinks alcohol during pregnancy.

a. First of all the woman will have vaginal bleeding.

revolution Essay

All revolutions start off with one motivaton and that is change, but with all the emotion and power of the people, peace can suddenly transform into violence. Without change many countries in today’s world including the United States would be corrupt and exploited. Revolutions have been done since the beginning of time and are still being formed by the countries that believe change is necessary. The most famous revolution that altered it’s nation completely is the Russian Revolution. With this Russian revolt came many opportunities to have new alliances and choose a new destiny. But not only did Russia confront it’s economic problems and instability, Egypt as well as Libya have followed into Russia’s foot steps to reform a better government. Of course, there are simmialrites and differences seen between the Russian Revolution and revolts in the Middle East regarding the demands of the people, the reactions of the leaders in power, the methods of protest and outcomes.
The people of all countries deserve the right to have freedom and speak for themselves. And surprisingly in eighteen days of fear, but boldness the people of Egypt have stood up for police cruelty when a father was forced to burn himself alive. Many of the witnesses began to protest and in two days everyone joined in to fight for peace. Just like Egypt, almost a hundred years ago Russian factory woman began a protest because bread was not available and pretty soon the men joined to create a revolution. In the nation full of oil, Libya has decided to seize for control to overthrow Colonel Qaddafi and become one more nation of prosperity. The freedom hoped for can be conquered only if the citizens beat the man of power, the president.
When a country opposes it’s ruler, that shows how poorly he is doing his job as a protector. Justice was made and the leader had to pay the consequences even if he had to die trying. For instance, Nicholas II of Russia was persistent and would not give up his kingdom until he was abdicated. There are many distinctive and similar contradictions involving the Russian reform and the resent uprisings in Egypt and Libya. Even though lives are lost in every revolution known to men many more lives are saved from immorality. Just like Dr. Martin Luther King who fought for desegregation and Gandhi who believed in non - violence, these countries will alter the world continuously. Hosni Mubarak and with a angry protest ready to fight he finally stepped down and let the military take control. Mubarak did not want to lose his power, but the treats to bomb gasoline stations and the creation of chaos was too much and had no other choice. He tried to stop the protest by sending his legendary security apparatus, but turned against him and marched to victory. Libya was ready to start a bloody revolution and burned many police stations and offices, and Colonel Qaddafi taught he could keep order. Rebels took advantage of all the aggression and caused Qaddafi to bring soldiers weapons. Sometimes a president has nothing else to do, but use fist and guns to keep his country in his rule. Russia was a perfect display of a passive uprising, Libya began on the wrong foot and now is in deep trouble. With Russia’s flawless method of protest it made it had made it’s own resolution to become a Soviet Union, initiate the Russian Civil War and most importantly govern by the Bolsheviks. Russia had the best outcome, but recently Egypt has been freed and now the people are proud to be Egyptians. They march with pride and cheerfulness now all they have to do is draft their constitutional amendments and declare a president to be in charge. There has also been a plethora of different political groups, like the Islams, and for the first year in thirty years the citizens of Egypt will have the right to vote. In a report done by the Vice president, he said, “ Let god declare our steps,” and renounced his position. The military has arrested Anas al-Fiqqi , the country's former information minister, and Osama el-Sheikh, the chairman of state TV and radio for corruption. While in Egypt everyone is celebrating their independence, in Libya about an estimated 180,000 people have fled in the past 10 days seeking refuge in Tunisia while Qaddafi has sent armies of soldiers to kill huge amounts of rebels and protesters. All together, every revolution has a different tactic, but eventually will free themselves from exploitation.

Reflective Essay

The Worst Year of My Life!

                My parents taught me to be the best in my class. I was tramautized to be the best and now everytime I look at homework I feel anger. I like to be at school and homework is only to better educate, but I do not like to remember when I was so unhappy. I was such a smart little girl growing up, but pressure made burst just like a balloon. I felt steam blowing out of my head everytime I got a bad gradeand now I feel nothing. I am tired of feeling a weight on my back especially when my parents used to make me study late nights. I would hide my madness so that they would not torture me any longer. I love my parents like any adolescent, but receiving pressure at a young age is not easy. After a while, I tried to hide myself by acting joyful and full of life. That only worsened my depression and pretty soon everything worsen. It was like one day I woke up in a whole new body and I forget how to feel. I was in such pain I had become immune to it just like a virus.


 Until I started to forgive everyone that was hurting me. little by little. I like to think about my future and not about what worried me. I was obsessed with being the best and having the perfect grades honor roll. I realize that the reason why I have anger towards homework is because it made me so unhappy in the past. Not the unhappy because I am lazy, but the unhappy of an obsessed perfectionist.I was tired of being the perfect student and my self esteem showed it. That will all change when I start doing my work for myself and for my own education. Not for anyone who pressures me into being perfect. No one is perfect and I am living evidence 

"Story of the Door" Reaction

            In the passage, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, There are many moments that teach lessons from the nineth century. Of course, back then people had a different way of thinking. The rich looked down on the less fortunate. In the passage, "Story of the Door," the author Stevenson uses biblical allusions to support his ideas and thoughts and give detail to each character. One example is, " I incline to Cain's heresy...I let my brother go to the devil in his own way," this quote was used as an example. Stevenson wrote that Mr. Utterson envied the way bad peopple did bad deeds just like Cain's Heresy. This was the begining of the story and helped set the mode and also the theme. Finally, Mr. Utterson is a positive thinker and never over exaggerates his thoughts which is the complete opposite of Mr. Hyde.

              In the book, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the author Robert Loius Stevenson is a writer of the nineth century. In the beginning of the the story he emphasizes on Mr Utterson. For example, in the first paragraph of "The Story of the Door," Stevenson descibed Mr. Utterson with detail to make him a key person throughout the passage.
              Stevenson says," MR UTTERSON the lawyer was a man of a rugged countenance that was never lighted by a smile; cold, scanty, and embarrassed in discourse; backward in sentiment; lean, dusty, dreary and yet somehow lovable. Stevenson makes Mr. Utterson cantradict himself because he is a cold man, but at the same he is a nice person. Mr. Utterson has a rare personality because he is serious but a person with morals. In the past people of the nineth century had morals and education and that is what Mr. Utterson shows in the first paragraph of in The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Blog Assignment #4 - Persuasive assignment

              In the story, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde a maid called the police because she believes she witnessed a murder. First of all, she was going to sleep in her room which had a perfect view of the street outside and she noticed a man passing by. She observed that eye catching man and did not pay attention to the shorter man. Then, she saw them having a conversation and the short man with a cane transformed into a beast. The shorter less appealing man stepped on the other man's foot and then hurt him with the cane mulitple of times. The maid was so startled she fainted. When she woke up, she called the cops and of course there was evidence of the monstrousity at the crime scene. The cops found one part of the broken cane in the sewer and in the victim's pocket, an envelope with the address of Mr. Utterson. This information was given to the lawyer the next morning and he went to recognize the corpse of Sir Danvers Carew.
Mr. Utterson and the officer go to Mr. Hyde's house and the atmosphere is dark, melancholy and has a bad vibe. At the suspected murderers house everything shows that the murder was no accident. The other part of the cane was behind a door, and a cheque book that was saved by the fire was founnd. Of course, there were many burnt papers and a mess in the rooms of Mr. Hyde's house. When their is a witness, evidence of a horrible action this is enough to put Mr. Hyde in Trial. If I was a lawyer in this case I would try to cinvince the jury that Mr. Hyde is guilty because there are enough evidence to support my idea. As a lawyer, I would try to find more witnesses and would go further in the decision that I am making. But in this story, Mr. Utterson is more about trusting and he has a lot more patience compared to me.
